One day you’ll look back and see the light that was always there. You’ll rediscover the glow that was hidden from view when you were deep in your darkest hour. You’ll notice the brightness you couldn’t see because you were too afraid to search for it.
One day you’ll look back and you won’t just see the pain. You’ll see the power it gave you. Your scars will remind you of not only the things you survived, but the person you became in surviving them.
Years from now, you’ll be able to remember with fondness the things you overcame. When the storm has passed and the dust has settled, you’ll look down and realize where you are and you’ll understand that the wind carried you to exactly where you needed to be.
One day, you’ll see the golden thread that was carrying you through the unknown. The light that was pulling you towards a better life. You’ll look back and be thankful for the heavy days that forced you to let go of the stories that were bringing you down.
One day, you’ll find forgiveness. For the people who hurt you, but most importantly, for the ways your hurt yourself. For the times you made yourself small. For the situations you settled for. For the relationships you stayed in too long. For the choices you made and the risks you didn’t take.
One day, you’ll realize that there wasn’t a wrong path after all.
There is a version of you out there, in the not so distant future, who is cheering you on. A version of you who is stronger and brighter, because of this moment. There is a version of you that takes up space proudly. One that walks with confidence. One who knows their worth. One who is vibrant and full of life.
That version of you is thanking this version of you. They believe in you.
Even the longest chapters come to a close. The hardest days are only twenty-four hours and the longest years are only twelve months. In the grand scheme of your life, one day you’ll look back at this moment, and smile, because even when you thought you couldn’t survive - you did.
One day, you’ll look back at this time and you’ll see the light that was always within you. The strength you always had.
One day, your smile will return with ease. Laughter will fill your belly again. You might not even notice it happening, but one day you will heal. The wounds will close and the scars will fade. And when you do notice it - when you look back and you see just how far you’ve come - you’re gonna feel it. Your eyes will be wet, and your heart will be full. You’ll be thanking yourself for every damn thing you lived through, because you couldn’t imagine being anywhere else than where it brought you.
Keep going. I promise that one day, you’ll look back and realize just how powerful this moment was.
Love Always,
Krista Marie
